VADIM TCHIJIK

 VIOLIN 

Born in Moscow, Vadim Tchijik began studying the violin at the age of six and gave his first concert at just eight years old. He graduated with highest honors from the prestigious Tchaikovsky Central Music School in Moscow, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon, and the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne.

Acclaimed by the French magazine Diapason as "already a maestro," Vadim is a prize-winner of several major international competitions, including the N. Paganini Competition (Genoa), the P.I. Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow), and the R. Lipizer Competition (Gorizia). He is also a recipient of the Juventus Award in France.

He has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, North Netherlands Symphony, Mexico Symphony, Kharkov Philharmonic, Freiburg Symphony, San Remo Symphony, Padova and Veneto Orchestra, and the Garde Républicaine in Paris. He has played under the baton of renowned conductors such as Michel Tabachnik, Jean-Pierre Wallez, Jean Deroyer, Naoto Otomo, Anton Nanut, and Peter Csaba.

Vadim has appeared in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls: Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Théâtre du Châtelet, Salle Gaveau (Paris), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Konzerthaus (Berlin), Gewandhaus (Leipzig), Mozartsaal (Hamburg), Residenz (Munich), Dvořák Hall (Prague), the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Suntory Hall (Tokyo), and the Palace of Arts (Mexico), among many others.

He has given recitals across Europe, the United States, Canada, and Asia — in over 30 countries — and has been a frequent guest at international festivals such as Festival Radio France et Montpellier, Pablo Casals, Berlioz Festival, Auvers-sur-Oise, Colmar, Nancyphonies, Ravello, and Portogruaro. He has also appeared on numerous radio and television broadcasts and recorded extensively for labels including Lyrinx, Polymnie, Exton, NovAntiqua, and Continuo Classics. In 2006, he contributed to a series of recordings in Japan celebrating Mozart’s 250th anniversary.

Vadim is also an avid chamber musician, having performed with artists such as Pieter Wispelwey, Emmanuel Pahud, Jean-Claude Pennetier, Marielle Nordmann, Philippe Bernold, David Geringas, Cédric Tiberghien, Marc Coppey, Alexander Melnikov, Anne Queffélec, Michel Lethiec, and many others.

In 2010, he appeared on the cover of String magazine, which featured a six-page interview.

He is Artistic Director of the International Music Festival in Hyères, Les Musicales de Saint-Martin, and Les Heures Musicales de Binic in France. Vadim regularly gives masterclasses across Europe, South America, and Asia, and is the founder and director of the ensemble Les Virtuoses.

He plays a Ferdinando Gagliano violin made in Naples in 1775.
